Corel's Linux Effort

That's right. After Corel failed to deliver the Network PC, right after they failed to deliver the Java office product, they jumped on the Linux bandwagon. Linux did not hit hype status when hat went public; it has been in hype mode since 1997. It was just another Minux rip-off until that time - the original lightweight, free-souce Linux.

Maybe that's why you guys keep saying Cowpland has vision: when it appears in the mainstream press, five years after being introduced and hyped in the industry, you guys think Corel is on the ground floor rather than shoveling behind the bandwagon behind dozens if not hundreds of real development companies.

Now, that reporter got it exactly right and Corel was being laughed at (justifiably) for wasting more shareholder money on another failed venture: they're own Linux GUI. Nothing, I repeat, nothing could be more of a recipe for failure than that. We're talking about a company that shrink-wraps '80s software inherited from other companies and simply babbles on and on about everything else. Look at the Network PC and the Java effort. Those or only the two notable failures.
