Kaiser says Unitec looks for help, finds Grandich
Unitec International Controls Corp UIC

John Kaiser, writing in the Bottom-Fish Action for the week of Dec. 6-10, says he hopes Unitec's new investor relations man can get its stock moving. Mr. Kaiser recommended Unitec in December, 1998, at 25 cents; it was seven cents when he wrote his report. This is the only other time Mr. Kaiser has written about the company's affairs. In the Bottom-Fish Action, the letter writer appears to be doing his best to be nice to Peter Grandich, a fellow letter writer who was appointed director and investor relations chief for Unitec on Dec. 8. Part of being nice is not mentioning Mr. Grandich by name, but Mr. Kaiser cannot resist puncturing the hype and humbug surrounding his resume, such as Wall Street whiz kid and heading investment policy for major U.S. investment firms. "Unitec does not mention the names of these Wall Street firms, which for all we know could be the street's top deli and hot dog stand operations," Mr. Kaiser says. As for Unitec, he says the company is finally addressing its operational problems.
Note: For more information about Mr. Grandich, Unitec, and questions of disclosure, see Stockwatch Street Wires from Nov. 4 and Nov. 6, 1998.
