humble carl,>>>It appears that you are confused, but why not move on to greener pastures? <<<
For me, Intel is an investment, not a religion. Intel is sitting in the center of the Internet universe yet it is not leveraging that position.
AMD relative to Intel is a tiny competitor and a mismanaged one at that. We knew from many years ago, following this and the AMD thread the Athlon specs and AMD roadmap.
Why is it that we are now scrambling, in a neck to neck race, to capture the speed title?
Okay, so speed isn't everything. We have our investments in new and exciting technologies. We are entering the networking biz. We are reinventing the enterprize market.
But, what is our core competency?
I thought it was our MP roadmap, translating R&D investments into products that can be manufactured at breakneck speed, and to use financial strength to get to market and continue growth.
This may indeed still be the case, but how in h?@% can you tell. No wonder the stock is selling at way below CISCO, MSFT and AMD multiples. Investors are telling us something. We don't know what is going on.
When you can't predict your earnings or don't care to meet earnings expectations - you are either ignorant or you are apathetic.
Don't tell me you don't know and you don't care.
