Optio Software and Syntax.net Reseller Partnership Offers a Robust Solution to
Produce and Deliver Customized Documents To Support E-Business and Extend the
Reach of the Global Enterprise

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 1999--Optio(R) Software Inc.,
(Nasdaq: OPTO) a leading provider of software that enables
organizations to extend their operations from paper-intensive commerce
to e-business, announced today the addition of Syntax.net as an Optio
Channel Partner.
Syntax.net is a full-service business solution provider
specializing in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Business
Intelligence (BI) and e-business for mid-market enterprises. Under the
agreement, Syntax.net will resell Optio's Enterprise Suite of output
management solutions, including the newly released e-business enabled
solution, Optio e.ComPresent(TM). The partnership provides Syntax.net
customers an integrated, single-source solution for the customization
and distribution of enterprise information, allowing them to
capitalize on the connective power of the Internet to link customers,
distributors, trading partners and suppliers to the customized
enterprise information they need. The partnership goes into effect
immediately.
The Optio Enterprise Suite improves partner relationships and
facilitates core business processes and ROI. It allows users of
Syntax.net's software to extend their reach and further leverage their
IT investment by adding the capability to tap directly into the
natural flow of information created by their applications, highly
customize it according to specific business rules and then deliver it
to a global network of digital destinations. The destinations range
from web browsers and e-commerce systems to local and remote printing
devices and e-mail systems. Shared users of our products will be able
to manage their business critical information more effectively, reduce
their costs, and minimize business disruption as they evolve from
paper-intensive commerce (PIC) to e-business.
The Optio Suite being represented by Syntax.net includes three
core products:
OptioDCS(TM) (Document Customization Server) - OptioDCS is
software that forms the foundation of the Optio Enterprise Suite. It
captures information from enterprise, legacy and other applications by
monitoring transactions and output such as print streams. It then
performs calculations and other data transformations, formats business
information or e-commerce transactions and delivers them to printers,
fax servers, e-mail servers, web servers, document archives and
e-commerce servers.
Optio e.ComPresent - E-business software that provides secure,
browser-based presentation of customized information. Information can
be grouped in pre-defined or user-specified folders for easy access.
All information is fully indexed and supports familiar Internet search
techniques. Users are alerted to the publication of new or updated
information with subscription-based notifications that arrive via
e-mail, pager, fax or printer. e.ComPresent facilitates the delivery
of customized information to support e-business initiatives like
report distribution, information portals, online bill presentment and
self-service applications.
OptioDesignStudio(TM) - Windows based software that allows users
to map, create, model from applications, databases and files, and
create business rules and conditional logic to automate processing of
the information and model the network of destinations to which the
information is delivered. The design files it creates are then
processed, in real time, by OptioDCS.
