Wally: Bob is on point with respect to the bias IMO. It is just noise at this point. A majority of broker/dealers are calling for two hikes now. I think it is pretty obvious what is coming down the pike unless you are an inmate running the asylum <g>. The real story is in the rhetoric accompanying the announcement and the word from rubber chicken circuit from this point forward. They have been in their quiet period for the past week and I suspect until Y2K is done and over with they will remain in that mode.

I don't see why they should not release their minutes a few days after the meetings. Are not the minutes the the foundation for the bias anyway? So just give us the minutes and be quiet about the bias. The minutes should give them enough leeway to be totally ambiguous anyway if that is their choice. Well, I am sure they may be some concerns about this inside the Fed. but to me looking on the outside in it would seem like a good idea.
