<rant alert>

Y'know - I think you may be right. Maybe the best thing Inprise could do at
this juncture would be to sell off *everything* and simply pay out its
shareholders and wind the company up. As a Delphi developer who uses
Interbase, I'd certainly feel a lot more secure if someone with a few clues
was running the company I depended on for my development tools. It seems to
me that Inprise (as a company - let's not forget all the terrific technical
people they have working there, and the excellent team we have at Inprise
NZ & Australia) is managed by people who are totally out of touch with
todays business world (and unfortunately, this is not a new situation for
the company ). I mean, how the hell can you fail so often when you have
(to quote Annette) "the BEST products on the planet". M$ make billions with
their #$%^@! and Inprise loses money hand over fist simply by failing to
market their products (period). It's criminal. OTOH, since M$ now have a
stake in Inprise, is there a conspiracy here that none of us have spotted
yet ?? Is Interbase seen as a real threat to SQL Server ? Or will M$ pick
it up for a song and use it's technology to produce a great engine (or more
likely, bury it) ?

<end of rant>

Simon.
