Tony,>>>Having "top gun" has always been important in the computer world.<<<
I agree with you. Speed is very mportant, just as speed was very important in the early days of the automobile. Mercedes Benz has quite a history at Le Mans and other European racing venues. Because there are no speed limitations on the Internet, speed is probably much more important now to Intel than to MB.
If you and I both can see that speed is very important, than why could not Intel see it?
Obviously, Intel knows things that you and more me, cannot possibly know and understand. But, we are not completely dummies. How about explaining to us why they don't think it is important to meet earnings expectations or that relinquishing the speed title is not all that big of a deal.
The Intel apologists (or bad behavior enablers) on this thread will tell us that it is not easy to predict revenues - because there are so many variables. Doesn't Cisco, Lucent, Msft, Yahoo, AOL, and others all have the same set of problems. Yet they always seem to meet earnings expectations.
Don't get me wrong - I believe Intel does a lot of things right - but there is obviously some problems there and they don't seem to want to address it.
It may be that they are just too arrogant. They don't complain and they don't have to explain. That attitude may have worked for some in the past, but I don't think you can get away with it anymore - especially with everybody monitoring every move that you make using the Internet.
Enough of my complaints. You have heard them all too often before.
Regards,
Mary
