Why Is Jesus Called The Messiah?

Christians Call Jesus The "Messiah" Because He fulfilled The messianic
expectations of ancient Israel.

These Are MY words which I spoke to you...that everything written about ME in the law of Moses and the prophets and the pSALMS MUST BE
FULFILLED... Thus it is written that the Christ{Greek for Messiah}
should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead (Luke 24:44-46)

A summary of some of these messianic expectations:
1. After the fall, the promise of a Delivere is given. HE will be born of a woman and crush the head of the serepent(the devil) (Genesis 3:15)
2. The chosen people is formed for the purpose of blessing all nations
through the foretold Redeemer (Genesis 12:3)
3. The concept of the MMessiah begins to be revealed: HE will come from the tribe of Judah and rule over the nations (Genesis 49:10-11). HE will be a prophet like Moses (Deuteronmy 18:15-19).
4. HE will be a King from the family of David (2Samuel 7:16, Psalm
2;89;110). He will be called "Immanuel" (Isaiah 7:13-14) and a Wondeful child" (Isaiah 9:1,2,6,7).
5. HE will be born of a virgin (isaiah 7:14), at Bethlehem (Micah 5:2-5),
spent HIS childhood in Egypt (Hosea 11:1), and brought up in Nazareth
(Isaiah 11:1. Note: there is a similarity in sound and meaning between the Aramic word for "Nazareth" used in the tec of Matthew 2:23 and the
Hebrew word translated as "Branch" in this Isaiah text).
6. The Messiah will have a forerunner like Elijah (Malachi 3:1;4:5), will conduct HIS ministry in Galilee (Isaiah 9:1), and work miricls of healing (Isaiah 32:5-6)
7. He will be rejected by HIS nation, be stricken, and suffer-a man of
sorrows (Isaiah 53)> HE will be betrayed by a friend (Psalms 41:9), for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12), and led like a sheep to the slaughter (Isaiah 53:7).
8. HE will die with the wicked, be scorned and reviled, and be pierced in the hand and feet (Psalms 22).
9. HE Will be victorious over sin and death (Isaiah 25: 6-9; 53), risnig on the thrid day (As indicated by Jonah's time inside the fish-1:17), inaugurated a gglorious age (Psalms 72)
10. HE will bring a NEW COVENANT to all Jeremiah 31:31, and will be
known as the Desire (or Exectation) of nations (Haggai 2:6-7) WHOM He
will include in HIS kindom (Hosea 1:10)
---------------------------------------------

Jesus is indeed the Messiah! Let us celebrate His birth with joy and thanks to God our Father for this great salvation. The divine Son of God became a man that me my become the sons of God. Glory to God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit now and forever.
