It's true- Del is as irrational as a Christian. Those emotional mental models will get you every time. I appreciate your support for the rational- but you SHOULD know that Michael M celebrates the irrational. One can sympathize with those annoyed by Christmas- it IS everywhere. The TV, the supermarket, the mall, everywhere public gets decked out, and so many private houses too- and for all people MOAN about municipalities not being able to have religious displays they STILL decorate for Christmas- they still put up lights and banners and stuff stuff stuff. So although I LIKE it, and enjoy it, I can understand why this would be a very annoying time of year if you didn't. So in the sense that Christmas (especially because it is such a great commercial mechanism) overpowers everything else it DOES steal this time of year. I know some of my Jewish and Hindu friends feel a little sad about this- in the sense that they feel they have to have trees and give presents so their kids won't feel so left out. And I think Del and Christine do too.
