If you like to fiddle with techie stuff you might want to try the NetMedic demo ... it makes an attempt to animate the performance of each link in the internet browsing chain ... PC, modem, ISP, bone, remote server ... I don't know what it does with cable/DSL, which looks like a LAN instead of a modem to Windows.
