For the vast majority of publicly traded companies, investment earnings never show up in the income statement.

To be absolutely explicit, such gains or losses do not show up in reported earnings.

If the business purpose of the company is to profit from such investments, then yes, those investments would affect operating earnings.

This is not the case for ATY.
