Gore Caught in Another Cyber-Fib

Don't look now, but Vice President Al Gore has hit another pothole along the information super highway.

During Friday night's face-off between the VP and fellow White House hopeful Bill Bradley at a Nashua, New Hampshire, town meeting, Gore claimed:

"I helped to negotiate an agreement with the Internet service providers to put a parent protection page up and give parents the ability to click on all of the web sites that their children have visited lately. That'll put a lot of bargaining leverage in the hands of parents."

However, NewsMax.com is reminded that this particular Gorism was exposed as counterfeit months ago by the Wall Street Journal:

"You'd think Vice President Gore would have learned to steer away from excessive bragging when it comes to the Internet. But yesterday the veep held a White House ceremony at which he unveiled a compact that he claimed to have negotiated with the computer industry to make it easier for parents to keep objectionable material on the Internet away from kids.

"The reality, according to industry sources, was far different. The industry had been working for a year with bipartisan members of Congress on putting a link to online child-safety resources on the front page of Internet portals - with no participation from the Vice President."
