HCL Technologies, an infotech services, solutions and engineering firm promoted by non-resident Indian Shiv Nadar, has decided to lend its marketing and financial muscle to start-ups worldwide by making strategic investments through equity participation.

The plan envisages picking up between 50 and 70 per cent stake in firms, especially dotcoms and start-ups. HCL will not seek management control in these companies.

?We do have plans in this area. However, any announcement will come only after due board approval and regulatory clearances,? HCL executive vice-president Vineet Nayar told Business Standard.

HCL Technologies is in discussion with several Indian companies for making strategic investments.
