SGI also owns a little company called Alias|wavefront (A|W).

When Micro$oft sold it's interest in Softimage to Avid, the press indicated that Softimage had traded hands for around $ 285 Million.

Alias|wavefront has been doing quite well with it's products (notably Maya). Since A|W is completely owned by SGI, it's financials are anyones guess. My guess would be A|W is at least worth what Avid paid for Softimage (ie roughly $ 300 Million).

I wouldn't want to see A|W sold, but I also don't believe it is so insignificant that it should be ignored.
