I have a hard drive with NT 4 on it that will not boot on IDE primary master when used with a new MB (went from Matsonic 5205 to FIC 503+). It will boot from the IDE secondary master.

I assume you have checked the bios and it is set to boot IDE primary master. Have you tried setting it to boot secondary master with the drive on primary master?

It sounds like a defugalty in the mobo bios or maybe a defective IDE controller. NT seems to have it's own way with hardware regardless of what we want.

Does it make a difference? I don't think there is a performance difference between the channels..just guessing...but I have never noticed one.

Does the primary channel work? ie is the CDROM on it?

PS

Why didn't someone tell me to load up on tech stocks?? or at least Qualcom:(
