Oooo... C *is UNIX, E. How can you say it's not suited for comm. The whole freakin' internet is UNIX/C down to the DNA jammies. --- The best DOS comm stuff is assembler. {commo} term by Fred Bruckner<sp> is a great example. Unix though is all about portability and "|" <--this stuff. --- You often sound like it's not Unix you're trying to improve, but DOS/VMS. --- There's no greater way for one to screw oneself for portabilty than to write machine code for one OS and attempt porting it to another. At least that's my understanding. -JCJ Edit: On the other hand, you're having a conversation with someone who is convinced Unix is a 30,000 year old operating system given to modern humans (mostly named Bill) through a series of contacts by ancients from a lost continent, but now living inside of the earth. -JCJ
