Dear EdA, asleep though you may be, your words about divisiveness depriving ourselves of relishing the communications of others hit me deeply.
I did such a goodie on Procrastination to Kid about Birds, and such a fairly profound one someplace-or-the-other on Olga's Magic Heroes - and these were ignored by most everyone, for the needs of immediate in-out-in-out-in-out...
Reflection, contemplation, appreciation (in fact, substance) seem thrown to the fastly flickering fingers of the look-at-me posters.
Someone once told me there were essentially three types of contact: person-to-person, snail mail, and internet. (Please do not try to dick around with voice-to-voice, telephone - that is person-to-person.)
And that each of these was basically different from the others.
My feelings were reinforced, this evening, that this cybercontact is all out. The rapidity of exchange leaves nothing digested, everything spewed out.
Like, Christine and Del are really not the separatists, isolationists, they appeared to be this evening. It was all part of being caught up in the speed of the medium. (And I am leaning on, not stealing from, that Medium Is The Message guy, whatever his name is.)
I do not believe Rodney King is god. Garrison Keillor is.
What will things be like five, ten years from now?
Congenially,
