Sarkie - in continuing our dialogue, there was a (what I thought) very thoughtful post on raging bull re: the emergence of broadband and what that means.

According to recent newsweek, by 2005, 57,000,000 will have broadband access of some sort. This will require enormous infrastructure support and expertise. (Not to mention dough.)

I just had a thought....these free isp's are here to be acquired, not make money. (E.G., short termers) Their aggregation of eyeballs will be valuable and perhaps absorbed by a big telco as part of their internet strategy.
