Hi Larry,
Comments offered for thought, provoke thought, thereby provoking discussion, which dictates a response. Afterall, isn't that the purpose of SI?
Anyways, I haven't gone back to reread our 10-Q's, but, yes, I do believe there can be seasonal issues in multiple quarters. We, meaning Bay, sell a wide variety of products from consumer level hubs, NICs, switches, etc. to enterprise level managed hubs, switches, routers, network management software, etc.
It's quite possible that different product lines are affected differently during the year due to the wide disparity in the class of consumer. Of course, this is just my speculation.
As for our May 5th and 6th announcements, I think there is major significance! First off, people have been long awaiting Dave House's presentation of where he is going to take Bay Networks and what's been happening to resolve our internal problems. This announcement is not just a shareholder issue, but more significantly a customer and industry issue.
Afterall, it's of paramount importance that Bay Networks' current and future customer's know who we are, what we stand for and where we are going as a company. Once the customers are on-board they buy product, which fuels revenue, volume and earnings. It is then the shareholders who benefit because the market will then value our stock at a higher price, no?
As for going public at Interop, this is *the* premier networking show of the year, with a huge attendance of customers, analysts, press, etc. What better place to garner mind share?
Just my thoughts,
Lerxst
ps - Has anyone seen our Adaptive Networking teaser ads? If there is interest, I'll post the text of the four ads that are currently running. |
