Nihil, I can always tell when you feel you have lost the ability to formulate a coherently thought out position. Because you launch into your "idiot" ranting tirade.

Sorry to have challenged your mental model so completely. Perhaps you can bring this issue up in class and see if your students can enlighten you on the "ethical" issues involved.

One person is an elected representative of the people, the other is a political appointee. One has the authority to dispense funding for the causes deemed appropriate for the city he represents. The other does not.

Or perhaps you would like to see every appointee in the White House dictate how money is spent in every state. Shoot, with your model, why bother having elected state representative at all! Why not just set up an all powerful central government to run each State, and dictate every dime spent?

Of course, you may have to change one inconvenient document that gets in the way of your dream. "The Constitution of the United States of America".
