Okay, since you're always running off to medical sites, I thought I'd post this to you..

the goods:

Selected parts from "Findings": Limited evaluation of the posterior fossa demonstrates a normal-appearing cerebellum (normal-appearing?). The inferior brainstem is normal (inferior?). Gross alignment is normal (they could stand to change some language, I think)

The important stuff: Moderate to large left paramedian and left lateral discs are present at C6-7 and C5-6. Both of these disc protrusions extend into the left neural foramen at these levels resulting in moderate to severe narrowing. There is no evidence of spinal stenosis nor neural foraminal compromise of the right.

The upshot: There is also a bit of something going on with the C3-4. The good news of this is that since other discs are involved it is possible that all the problems stem from the neck. Hence, fix that, fix me, as opposed to fixing the neck and having another problem to deal with as well. I'll be going back for the complete neuro which can hopefully determine which is the case. I'm looking at surgery to make more room in there. The simple, which he recommends unless we find reason to think it won't be enough, would get me home the day after, with 3 weeks in a brace. The more serious surgery to make room in there would mean 3 MONTHS in a brace. Sounds good to me to start with the simple. So that is that for now.
