. . . Some trades today . . . Not ready for new portfolio. . . waiting to see the whites of the markets eyes first. Traded in and out of ADFC and ICGE for a terrific gain. . . remember when I bought ICGE at 139? How about a 60 point gain in 2 days!! Sold my Typo Trade of GO for a loss. Sold VERT for a nice gain. Bought back LDIG. Added LPTHA. Added HEAR. Added LQID. Added SFO. Started new position in LU. Dumped NZRO and leftover GEEK for a loss. . . .[Sometimes, I don't know why I bother daytrading. . . the gains are never as much as position trading.] But lo and behold. . . I scalped some VVUS. . .from 3 3/4 to 5 1/16. . . . . I try to look at daytrading the same way I do video poker. . .play hard and fast and always walk away a winner. . . not holding overnight. . . don't like the company at all. Our positions and long portfolios are still the way to make the most overall dough. . . .slowly. . . not all at once. Now and then, one of our winners comes in big. . . .but it is the long positions that do the best. . . . Speaking of which. . . be careful buying up those bargains. . tax loss selling is hardly over. . .and next Tuesday is the last day for trading with a 1999 settlement. I didn't like today's market much. . .the speculative stocks did not do well. . . and the high fliers petered out. . . .if you can call 8 point gains a petering. I liked the accumulation I saw earlier in the week. . . that is why I lightened the load on high fliers and began to move into more sure bets like LU. . . which is fairly priced at 75 in my opinion. . . and I think they will blow away the street this time around. . . the keyword being Optical Networking. Looking to dump some leftover penny stocks to take the tax loss. . . holding winners long. Haven't had time to decide on a few mutual funds for the foreign tech small caps yet. . . but still intend on putting some dough there. Rande Is
