My best guess is that the issue will resolve itself by keeping in mind
the difference between intelligent life and just plain ol'
garden variety life. I would expect most life to be rather
simple and not necessarily long lasting. Have you considered
the effect of the moon on the Earth and thought about the
uniqueness of this system?

I do not expect there to be life of any kind in Charon.
