AFFX's last nine months showed $57.4 million in revenue. CALP's revenues for the same period were $8.5 million.

Given that, I think giving CALP a value nearly 1/2 of AFFX's is plenty generous.

I know it seems that in today's market companies are valued solely on potential. But measuring how far along a company is toward executing on that potential matters too. CALP just has a little more to prove than AFFX at this point.

Besides while AFFX and CALP are only in the same generalized industry, they occupy their own distinct niches. The differing market caps may be Wall Street's way of measuring the potential of each niche.

And then there's the supply-demand argument, suggesting that AFFX's large cap is a measure of higher demand for the stock. Being around for longer and being higher profile means AFFX has been "discovered" to a greater degree than CALP by the investing public.

I could go on, but I'm starting to blather. :-)
