AGS ISSUES INTERNATIONAL RFI FOR TECHNOLOGY SUPPLIERS TO VIETNAM'S INTERNET LOTTERY
Calgary, December 22, 1999 - Applied Gaming Solutions of Canada Inc. (AGS) reports that, due to strong interest in the Internet lottery AGS is developing in Vietnam, it has issued a Request For Information (RFI) to several major Internet gaming, software and e-commerce companies.
"We have been very pleased by the interest generated in the Internet Access Technology (IAT) industry from our recent announcement of the Vietnamese Government's request that AGS develop an Internet component to the existing on-line lottery system in Vietnam," said Jib Phelan, AGS Vice President, Lotteries. "Due to the number of inquiries, AGS decided that preparing an RFI for the IAT industry would be the most effective way for AGS to select the most compatible and secure Internet access solution for the existing on-line lottery."
The RFI requests expressions of interest from experienced IAT providers. These submissions must provide a technology solution that will operate as a separate entity from the existing on-line lottery system. In addition, IAT solutions must be fully secure and not create additional overhead or risk for the current on-line lottery system. The proposals must also show how suppliers can limit Internet participation to only those players located in jurisdictions that allow this form of lottery.
Parties interested in responding to the RFI can download a copy from the AGS website as of December 22, 1999 12 noon MST at: www.ags.ca or contact AGS at 1-888-685-7788 to arrange for a copy of the RFI to be faxed, e-mailed or mailed.
Responses to the RFI must be mailed (2 copies) to the AGS Corporate Head Office and also e-mailed (1 copy in MS Word format) to: jphelan@ags.ca
Responses must be received by AGS by no later than January 21, 2000.
AGS will not be involved with any transactions related to Internet lotteries in any jurisdiction that prohibits this activity.
Market analyst Datamonitor recently reported that all forms of Internet gaming, including lotteries, could reach as much as $10 billion (US) by 2002, an increase of more than 1000% from the $955 million (US) predicted for 1999.
Datamonitor also went on to say, "Casinos, lotteries and sports books will dominate the new market, online gambling turnovers have the potential to dwarf those of other interactive services, tapping into an existing traditional market valued at over $700 billion in Europe and the U.S. alone."
Applied Gaming Solutions of Canada Inc. is a leader in providing comprehensive, integrated on-line lottery products around the world. AGS currently provides technical support for the on-line lottery system run by the Construction Lottery of the Capital-Hanoi in Vietnam.
