Hi David, "Thanks for the mod. The indicator is definitely for long term. Not a huge sample but I didn't see alot of difference between -1 & -2 on the ref function. I only changed it for the new part of the indicator, is this what you meant." Actually I use it for an entry point if some other things fit, (s&r, trnd lines). I would be in generally very short term... 2 to 4 days. That's why the -1 or -2 makes a differnece to me. Volume appears to increase as prices fall. The -2 gives you more hits to chose from because the volume is still high (not less than the 180 sma *0.33) because your a day earlier in the retracement process. As you near the end of the decline the volume dries up. That means every one who wanted to sell, has.. The stock is probably oversold at this point and ready to be purchased for the next upswing. So, with -2 you get more stocks to choose from, but a day behind on the upswing. I still don't know which is the better choice. All of that may read a little cryptic. Sometimes it's difficult to get a point across in a monolog. "Heres one for you: buy: ((((fml("Dahl's primary trend")>0) AND ref(fml("Dahl's primary trend"),-1) <= 0))" Thank you for the indicator. I know you're into the "simple" ma's. But someone very helpful to us both also uses the dahl on a time series ma....(Richard). It gets you in and out a little quicker because it hugs the prices closer. However, I have not system tested it to check for better % profits. Don't worry about responding in a timely manner, I have been gone days before I've had a chance to get back to someone. Good luck in your quests... -- Gt --
