Thread, I tried to short a NASDAQ-listed stock today that traded over 700,000 shares. Neither Schwab nor Fidelity was able to find any shares in their system to allow me to execute the short. How can this be? Will someone explain to me the way brokerage houses allocate shares available to sell short.
