Wow folks...sometimes I am really amazed at the ignorance of wall street. EVERYBODY is an armchair quarterback and assumes they know what is the best move for said company. Let's face it....how many times do we ( me included of course ) sit and question the moves and motives of companies we are involved in. Being involved...being a shareholder, gives us the right to question, but it doesn't mean that we know squat. It is beyond us to think that we can sit here and say what is best for qcom ( or any other company ). We are here, as shareholders not knowing 1/100th of what we need to know.....management which makes the decisions is "in the know". They run the company day to day, while we go about our own business. Part of investing in a company is putting your faith in the management team...faith that they know what is best, and will do what is best.
Not only do I have complete faith in qcom management, but I love this deal with K...not because I trust management did what is best, but simply because it is an awesome deal. Sure, a deal with NOKIA or one of the other big boys is what alot wnated and expected and it would have been good for a short term pop, no doubt. But management is proving they are interested in the long term success, not just a short pop. The deal with K, rids them of the lagging handset business, and gives them a new customer that will spend mega bucks with over the next 5 years, not to mention puts them right smack in the middle of the overseas market which will be huge. Right now, the deal looks plain.....in 5 years, we will be able to look back and see just how much better this deal was...it will be enormously better over the long term. QCOM is adding to the bottom line...and adding quite a bit. K is no slouch...they will be spending huge amounts of money on qcom...and the overseas market will explode over the next couple years. QCOM can make the high margin profit on the technology and ...well, I could go on and on, but long term QCOM is positioning itself to be a mammoth in the new millenium. I have never felt better about owning qcom then I do right now, and I passed on this over and over waiting on a pullback until I bought at $220.....
QCOM is a winner, and a must have stock for any portfolio. |
