Before we all get depressed, let's put this in perspective. If I read the article correctly, they were talking about declining sales OF SEMICONDUCTORS TO THE DRIVE MANUFACTURERS, not decling sales of drives (altough price declines keep that forecast from being as bright as we would like unless PC growth is higher than anticipated or other consumer uses become big).
Reuctions in the number of chips required per drive and declining prices of chips are apparantly expected to excced growth in drive units.

IDC's forecast would presumably conflict with George Gilder's forecast of small disks encroaching on traditional flash markets-something I admit I'm not yet hearing of. -Z
