Satyam Online to join hands with Apollo Hospitals

Apollo Hospitals has joined hands with Satyam Online to offer `Apollo Virtual` which will be a convergence of IT and healthcare services. Speaking to Indiainfoline recently, Dr Pratap C Reddy, the promoter of AHEL said, "We are planning to make Apollo available at all times, at all places, to all people." The aim is to connect doctors with each other and doctors with specialists. The Virtual Apollo will create a medical university on the web so that the entire medical information is available on the users desktop. It will connect doctors to hospitals, hospitals to hospitals and doctors with other medical supplies. Virtual Apollo will also harness all that is available through IT and give it to the people.

As a first step, a product for the physician called the Mednet has been created. Mednet will be primary for a physician to access information from Apollo and also the world medical literature and eventually conduct e-commerce through the same system. Various cities in the country are being linked so that, patients can take second opinion with specialists directly. Doctors will be available from the Madras and Hyderabad hospitals round the clock through VSAT and ISDN lines if any one requires a second opinion.

The board of Apollo Hospitals approved the merger of Deccan Hospitals and Indian Hospital Corporation to become the largest corporate hospital outside USA. Apollo is in the process of setting up a number of hospitals in India and in SAARC countries.
