As a former contractor in the state of California, I'm sympathetic to the plight of people who make their living building homes for people. After all even environmentalists live in houses, and those houses are made from natural products. The forgotten villains of this story are the consumers of the products, not the producers.

On the other side I've seen the destruction of the forests in Humbolt first hand. It's not a pretty sight. If the remaining old growth redwood trees aren't worth saving we aren't worth saving.

This company seems to be eating it big time on forest products anyway. If you add that to the gigantic amount of NEGATIVE PUBLICITY this redwood controversy has done to the company one would sincerely have to wonder about the sanity of the CEO.

Investors shy away from companies with such negative publicity for good reason. Perception is everything in stock valuation.

Just my two cents.
