Jim: Money can overpower the issues whether they are advancing and declining issues or new lows and highs. That is why I follow volume religiously. I think your read was correct. I expected the same lousy new high/low and breadth data. Last year was very similar to this year with last year's NYSE internals bottoming around December 15. At some point though, things will get so narrow and concentrated that the market can collapse with one thought. That is when the music stops, the chairs are taken, and we want to be somewhere safe. We can only hope to identify that moment.
