Those are good questions. But it appears (I haven't tried it yet) that leaps on a stock like Qualcomm can appreciate so much over the few years it might be worth it to keep in your tax sheltered account, unless you plan on exercising them all (which indeed you might). Remember farfel saying a $13,000 leap, if qualcomm does half as well next year, will be worth about $290,000? I probably will buy at least one on continued weakness tomorrow, I just couldn't figure out my positions today.

I don't think short term trading can generate those kinds of profits. Even with the rolling out of calls on Q the last few months, which does generate amazing profits, it's not that kind of percentage.
