Gary, maybe there are big brokerage customers and mutual funds that want to buy Palm but do not want to hold COMS. You are basically speculating how various buyers will buy Palm shares, some of them may not want to tie up the funds in COMS but rather on other investments until the PALM IPO. It will be hard to guess others' motivation in my view. Sorry, could not resist.
