"Recommended by Howard Ruff for core holding of at least $3000 per family member."

I'd suggest caution. While I have no knowledge of this company, let's look at some of the things in the ad:

Now is a great time to buy while the silver spot price is so low - $4.85 per ounce (10/13/98).

I'd expect a more up-to-date quote in an electronic ad. I'd say this is a hook to fool someone who knows nothing about the current price of silver into thinking it's cheaper than it is, hoping that he'll go ahead and spend the extra money instead of cutting back his order when he actually places it. Deceptive.

Liberty Mint sells by the troy ounce. A troy ounce weighs 31.1 grams and is approximatly 10% heavier than a regular ounce. The Liberty Mint Millennial Trade Unit is guaranteed to be one troy ounce of pure .999 fine silver.

It's implied that other places sell "regular" ounce coins. This is not true. Deceptive.

Much easier made for trade or barter when compared to gold, silver bars and junk silver.

I've always been under the impression that the junk silver was the most trusted and that the amount of silver involved was handier for trade. I may be wrong but which would you be more inclined to take, a Millennial Trade Unit or the equivalent weight in 1962 Washington Quarters?
