By Julie Polito (12/15/99) The idea of a home system from Dell used to be a bit of an oxymoron. Though Dell's desktop computers have shown consistently solid performance and hardware, a PC geared toward home users frequently didn't differ much from a business machine except for a few stray software applications. But with the Dimension XPS T500, Dell has done a bit of home redecorating to compete with companies such as Gateway and Acer, which have traditionally offered a more complete home solution. And Dell has succeeded: this Dimension's a winner.
