Mainland China: Firms to spotlight recent advances

Several DVD manufacturers are expected to bring their latest products to the winter CES. These are units boasting AC-3 and DTS decoding and 500-line resolutions. Most models offer a choice of viewing modes, from 4:3 to 16:9, and multi-language subtitles.

Home theater system makers are also expected, with their large-screen TVs, DVD players, amps and speakers. Most amplifiers to be on display will be compatible with AC-3 and Dolby Pro Logic, said makers, and feature karaoke systems, high-performance bass circuits and synchronized volume control for multiple channels. Advanced BBE sound control technology is also something to look out for.

Speakers will be an important part of the mainland exhibits: An array for woofers, tweeters, multimedia speakers and car speakers will be presented.

Another important mainland exhibit at the CES will be color TVs. Displays will include HDTVs, flat TVs, PDP TVs and multimedia TVs. Models will feature 100Hz scanning technology, and may well as have 100 preset programs.
