An individual consumer's viewpoint on CompUSA:

This company is toast....

I just returned computer speakers to my local CompUSA because I was not happy with the way they sounded, and was charged a 15% "open box fee". Gee, what an interesting way to build customer loyalty....Needless to say, I will now be going out of my way never to buy from CompUSA again. Furthermore, I will be telling all my friends about my experience at Xmas and New Year's parties. Compare my experience with CompUSA with my customer experience at companies such as Amazon or Home Depot (uniformly superlative) and you have one important reason why the stocks of AMZN, HD, and CPU have behaved the way they have.

You may view this post as from a disgruntled customer, and it sure is. However, you can be sure that there are thousands and tens of thousands of customers that are forming the same impression of this company that I am....
