The Jerusalem Church, the Antiochian Church and the Egyptian Coptic Church came before Rome. They all maintained very accurate records about the succession of Bishops.

The Anglican, the Lutheran and other churches simply used the records from the the Orthodox and the Coptic Churches when they split away from Rome.
