Pivotal Corporation CEO Tells Investment.com About Wireless Plans And Further European Expansion
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Chairman, CEO and President of Pivotal Corporation (Nasdaq: PVTL - news), Norm Francis, told Investment.com of plans to build further wireless access into its products as well as expand further into the European market. Francis told Investment.com that the company was also looking hard at supporting the popular Wireless Applications Protocol (WAP) standard for delivery of customer relationship management data via mobile phones, ``We are looking at it, yes. We haven't announced it yet, but if you are going to be in that space, then it's inevitable that we would have to support WAP.'

Francis underscored the importance of wireless initiatives to the company's development, stating, ``It's going to be key. We are very keen on it. We have this initiative we call Pivotal Anywhere. There is no question that the persistent anywhere, anytime access to customer information by mobile, wireless devices is going to be very important,' he said. ``We are working with Research In Motion (Toronto: RIM - news) in North America, and you'll see us doing a lot more in that area.'

When asked about the significance of the company's December 6,1999 acquisition of Transitif -- a leading French distributor of Pivotal's software -- Francis revealed that the move was only the beginning of a European expansion. ``Our overriding strategy here is that we do want to expand aggressively outside North America. And in our quarter end in September we did 25 percent of our business outside North America. And we've stated that our three-year target is to get that up to at least 40 percent,' he said.
