I believe most conservatives would rather see our current social security system turned into something similar to a 401K. Where it is controlled by the individual. 401K and other such plans have had a tremendously positive effect on the economy, individual wealth and empowerment. The current socialistic system where .35 cents of every dollar collected goes into administrative overhead is being vigorously defended by the Democrats in Congress and the two people running for President. If a mutual fund abused it's shareholders like that they would be tossed in jail for mis-management or fraud. When you come right down to it, liberals simply believe the average American is too stupid to run his or her own pension fund responsibly. Perhaps, if they had more faith in the government school system they admire and defend so much, they wouldn't believe that way. Kind of a strange contradiction wouldn't you say? Michael
