This link originally appeared on the market direction thread. While not an actual damage report, it has not had much attention, and it seems to possess significant potential for surprise after 1/1/2000.

The article basically reports that millions of users are still using an old browser that incorporates security certification features that will expire 12/31/99, that will prevent them from doing any e-commerce after Jan 1. And further, that many sites are not currently warning their users and customers of this situation.

Upgrading to a later release of the browser will solve the problem. However, this fix may not be as easy as it sounds. I am typing this using an old Netscape browser running under Windows 3.1, and have been unsuccessful in finding an on-line source for a later release that has a current security certification.
