Glenn, the only on-line shopping I did before the holidays was for a DVD. In my case there was only one model I could use because I wanted the option of also playing my Laser Disks which are now out of fashion.
Pioneer has the only DVD that plays both the old and the new format's.
Knowing the model I wanted I used MySimon.com. In case you didn't know MySimon is a search engine that will go out to every on-line retailer, and give you all the prices.
The Dvl-90 model I was looking for ranged in price from 708 to 1599. Of course, I choose the 708 price and ended up getting it from MoreAudiovideo.com out of NYNY.
22.00 shipping and no sales tax.
I can't say it was the wonderful touch, feel and the community experience that I enjoyed, but I liked the price I paid.
Now, I don't have a clue if this merchant made a profit on my transaction, but I feel I added to their pursuit of market share gain.;-)
