For obvious reasons I won't be able to report what systems or even if any of them go down due to problems since I am military but I will say that we are taking some systems down before Y2K just to be sure there are no attacks by opportune hackers and to reduce the damage control if Y2K does pose a problem.

We are going to shut everything down in some sytems then boot back up after the time passes. We have put together a checklist where each system comes up one node at a time to check for problems and if problems are encountered, that node can be troubleshot and kept isolated so that no "infection" of other nodes will take place. No real mission impact and more of an inconvenience than anything.

People have asked if I am hoarding ion preparation but I guess there are some benefits to being under paid and all the other problems of the military but there is no need as the base is stocked up on water and MREs. The base has it's own power grid, plenty of generators etc so if Y2K does prove to be armagedon, all I have to do is send the family to the base, grab some grub from the base and then load up my firearms and sit on my roof and guard teh house while they are cozy and being taken care of by the government. My only problem will be keeping out looters from my house should it come to that but I have already loaded up my favorite rounds with extra knock down power so I am not really worried as well as the neighborhood already knowing that I am the resident gun nut and that this house should be skipped in any rampages or else the local population could drop quickly <gggg>

Good Luck,

Lee
