Data from Microsoft's Year 2000 Product List.

As of 12/26/1999, there are now 935 products listed as having Y2K status
changes since 12/01/1999. Most of this number comes from language
variations in a product; if a product is available in 12 languages, it
will be listed 12 times. There are also a few products that are listed
as compliant, such as Windows 2000, recent versions of Media Player, and
some games.

There were also several hundred products that had negative status
changes in November and other recent months, so don't think you're safe
just because you don't use anything on this list.

Below is the list of products that have had negative status changes
since 12/01. At the end is the explanation of what the *, #, and + mean
as far as Y2K compliance.

Microsoft's Legend of Symbols:

* The product is compliant with recommended customer action. This
indicates a prerequisite action is recommended which may include loading
a software update or reading a document.

# The product is compliant with acceptable deviations from Microsoft's
standard of compliance. An acceptable deviation does not affect the core
functionality, data integrity, stability, or reliability of the product.

+ The product is compliant with pending Year 2000 software updates.
Future maintenance actions will be recommended shortly. See Product
Guide for further details.

Note: Compliance ratings given for each product assume that all
recommended actions have been taken.

My interpretation of Microsoft's Legend of Symbols in relation to this
list:

* Usually means that MS has released a new patch to fix some newly
discovered Y2K bug.

# Some minor Y2K bug has been found which will not be fixed.

+ A new Y2K bug has been found, which may be major, and MS is working on
a patch which will be released at some point in the future.

Of particular interest (to me, at least) are the recent status changes
in several major application development products. It is possible that
the newly discovered Y2K problems could have an impact on applications
written using these products. This could have a negative implact on the
Y2K compliance of nearly all PC software.

Enjoy the new year!
