Your new parish sounds as if it may be a keeper. That was really very beautiful, what they did. I didn't even realize they still had incense and sung Mass. I mourned the passing of the old traditional LAtin Mass and all the rituals. Stacy, CW's girlfriend is a Catholic and I was asking her about her Confirmation..

Did you take a name?
What?
A saint's name-- for Confirmation? Didn't you have to pick a Saint?
Uh---no.
Well, did the Bishop ask you any questions? Were you nervous?
No....
Did he slap you? Did you kiss his ring?
Uhh-- no...
I could tell she thought I was brought up in some weird cult that had nothing to do with Catholicism..
Do you remember these things? I feel as if I dreamed them now.

I know what you mean about Cobe's current parish. It sounds right to me as well. The odd thing is that in very "high church" Episcopal churches I often feel more at home than in some of the Catholic churches.

As for the Confirmation ritual, no, you didn't dream these things. I'm here to remember them as well. I wish you joy of that glass of wine and time to relax. You've earned them. One of the problems of the holiday season is that it can turn all too hectic and some of the very enjoyment of the family and the traditions gets lost in the whirl. So, enjoy!
