I have to agree. I often think..."what do I need to be comfortable?" My answer is invariably the same: I want to pay off my debts (mortgage included) so that I owe nobody a cent. After that, I just want to have enough to meet monthly bills and save 10%.
Above that, I pretty much just want to play the market as it is a mental challenge to determine good investments and play them successfully. The benefit is you can get good payoffs, and these payoffs make life nicer/easier. The payoffs can also lead to beneficial pass-alongs to heirs (should that situation arise - knock on wood not for a while).

In general, I enjoy the market since it offers an opportunity to study information and statistics, and use it as a means of supplementing wealth - and enjoying myself as I do it.
