Venture Capital, Incubators, perhaps it is time to resurrect the images of tulips before we get too enmeshed in this euphoria. Although Softbank may end the year with a 12 times runup, how fast and how far can we expect this to continue in the short run? I can recall saying that I would be happy with a year end price of $400 US. I think that Softbank was around $300 at the time. How stodgy and conservative such comments appear in retrospect. I can also remember when I considered a doubling of a stock price in one year to be a pretty good showing. Now I sense that most people are expecting a doubling in the first day of trading. Having said all that, in the world of internet stocks, Softbank is taking on the aura of a solid, reliable, conservatively managed company with a 300 year vision into the future. A recent investor was marveling at how Softbank appeared to be appreciating at 1%per day. <G>. Can we now consider that the norm? No one here, including me, would be surprised at 1% per day through the year 2000. I think I am beginning to scare myself. (Please don't ask me if I mean just trading days or every calendar day <G>).
