Just the beginning...PSDI(mro.com division)..the CMRC of 2000..............MRO.com and SKF to Provide Internet-Based Marketplace for Industrial Goods
MRO.com Powers SKF Web-based Procurement Initiative
BEDFORD, Mass., September 21, 1999 - MRO.com, Inc., a leading provider of MRO e-Commerce systems and wholly-owned subsidiary of PSDI (NASDAQ:PSDI), today announced that its mroSupplier will serve as the platform for SKF's Endorsia.com, a private Internet-based online procurement network for industrial goods and services. Sweden-based SKF is the world leader in bearings, seals and services. MRO.com and SKF are developing Endorsia.com as the world's first network that connects the entire supply chain of industrial goods including end-users, distributors and manufacturers. The agreement was secured in Q3 of PSDI's 1999 fiscal year.
SKF selected MRO.com as a partner because of MRO.com's expertise in helping capital-intensive industries tackle the complexities of MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operating) materials and services procurement. "SKF and MRO.com are committed to offering manufacturers, distributors and customers the most comprehensive web-based marketplace for industrial goods," said Phil Knights, president service division, SKF. "It was a natural fit for us to partner with a company that focuses on the industrial aspects of online procurement." Endorsia.com, a private network specializing in industrial goods and offering value-added services for its members, will be hosted on the MRO.com portal and will become an integral part of MRO.com's mroMarketplace.
Endorsia.com is a network built on MRO.com's mroSupplier platform. mroSupplier will power Endorsia.com with a robust electronic catalog, powerful product search metaphors, user-friendly procurement, and will connect the buyer and supplier trading partners through real-time business transaction handling and document exchange. High speed connectivity between buyers and sellers is ensured by a global, private network that overlays the public Internet.
"The partnership with SKF, the world's premier manufacturer of bearings and seals, validates our vision of reducing costs throughout the entire supply chain. This alliance gives us a strong European foothold as SKF plans to bring over 800 distributors and several manufacturers to the network," said Chip Drapeau, president and CEO of PSDI. "By providing SKF and other manufacturers and their joint distributors with a total MRO solution, Endorsia.com's online procurement initiative will become a critical resource for organizations worldwide."
