INTC CSCO LU, i agree. I guess it depends on what level we are talking, compared to what level WEB is (or might be) talking: 15 yrs ago Seagate was about the only thing around, then just a few years ago, Connor and Western Digital were HOT, then they slid, then MAXTOR and IBM started making some good stuff, then WD got better... same for Video cards: ATI Matrox Nvidia STB Creative, who's hot THIS week... ? Micron bit it about 2 years ago, but they appear to be back, Northgate DID bite it about 5 years ago... And didn't IBM announce they are getting out of the PC market ?
But this is at a micro-low level...
Look at all the Linux flavors out there - it's like trying to figure out the best flavor of Java or HTML to go with...
I have always thought INTC is a 'can't miss' - and AMD has done nothing to change that in my eyes... But MSFT could always take a hit, just like the Bells did and IBM did with their Anti-trust problems years ago.
It took years, but they bounced back.
Five years ago Netscape was a 'can't miss', and they almost died, as Apple almost did as well, and Iomega...
What was the name of that company Steve Jobs started that failed ? Canon eventually bought it and its' rights.. oh - it was 'neXt' or something like that...
But, as always, this is JMO.
